How to check SAP Application Servers and Work Process

This article tells you how to check your application servers and its work processes.

1. From transaction code SM51 you’ll see a list of the active instances and their services. The instance overview in figure below shows you the active processes on each instance.

2. By double clicking one of the instance brings you to the screen of SAP Process Overview Monitor or SM50 (you can kill a process from it). From this screen you will monitor your SAP Application Server Performance.

3. You can also know the user who logged in the application server from SAP User Overview Monitor button and kill the user if you need.

4. From the release note button you will know your current SAP Kernel Release. It show you the information your software, the oracle client version. To update your SAP Kernel read this update kernel articles.

5. You can also monitor your local system log of each server ( to monitor the system log centrally you can read monitor SAP System log article).
