How to create / configure SAP Printer Device

In this article I’ll show you the instruction how to Create / Configure SAP Printer Device.

Creating Output Device

General:
Output Device is the name of device in which users print out their report/form. To get more knowledge about SAP Printing user guide and its setup please refer to SAP Library Help.

Always Create / Add New SAP Printer Output Device in Development, after that you have to transport the configuration to QA and production.

1. Goto SPAD or menu Tools CCMS Spool Spool Administrator it bring you to menu SAP Printer Setup Configuration..

2. Click Output Device or Configuration -> Output Device

3. Go to Output Device  Create

Make sure you installed SAP supported and compatible printers device (always install drivers from certified Printer vendor).
4.Fill All Required Fields & Choose Host Spool Access Method and choose the correct type you want.

5. Choose the access method, host printer (printer name in spool server) and Destination Host (spool server name). You can choose access method L for local printing or U / S for remote printing.
Note:
– L access method means your spooling process will be done in your SAP application servers. Doesn’t mean your printer locally attached in your application servers.
– If you choose access method U or S, you must add IP address and hostname in file /etc/hosts in Application OS.
Example:

10.x.x.x hostname

Output Device is Ready
You can then transport your output device to QA / Prod.
